Trend Alert: Peach Dreams

Back again with yet another color that is great for this year especially this spring and that color is peach!  I am absolutely loving this color!  I just purchased a holed racer-back tank from Forever 21 in Peach and I just love it I plan to pair with mint colored jeans and nude platforms.

Colors that look great with peach :

Why peach is a good choice:
Peach is a perfect choice for spring because its soft, romantic, and is slightly less predictable than classic pink.

Peach Worn Best:
In a pair of skinny jeans, flowing dress, and pleated maxi skirts.  If you are very comfortable with this color I recommend trying it in your favorite brand of lip stick.  If you are not so comfortable wear peach try starting out with a peach colored clutch or a pair of platforms.

Coily Beginners Guide: How to Moisturize Hair

Written By NaturallyChelsea of NaturallyCurly.com

As a tightly coiled natural, you’re probably all too familiar with the race to do your hair before it dries. Once that conditioner has been rinsed out, you nearly tumble and fall out of your shower and run to your sink to begin the process all while ignoring the fact that over 20,000 slip and fall fatalities occur in North America every year.
While keeping a spray bottle on hand to re-wet your hair is convenient, the aim of the game is to be in and out as quickly as possible and avoid being locked in a bathroom, arms in the air, beginning to tug and pull at your hair just to get it over and done with.
If this story sounds familiar, then read on for a short and sweet list of tips on how to moisturize you hair every day.

How to Moisturize Hair

  • During the final step of cleansing your hair, ensure that you detangle it thoroughly. By doing this step in the shower, it will lessen the time you spend out of the shower battling knots as your hair dries.
  • Separate your hair into the sections that you intend to style. Let’s say that you want to do a twist or braid out and like to separate your hair into 10 sections. Do it in the shower. Them once you reach the sink, all you need to do is unravel each section one at a time and apply your product without wasting time separating.
  • Before even stepping into the showermake sure that you have your products on hand to use as soon as you get out. Nothing is worse than being dripping wet and looking around in cupboards for the leave-in conditioner at the back you wanted to try or the styler you left back in your bedroom.
  • Use liquid products when styling. This does double duty to ensure your hair stays moist and helps to keep your hair tangle-free as you style.
Now that you know the secrets of how to moisturize hair, go forth and style like the pros in a fraction of the time.
As always, curlies, I wish you love, peace and curly haired bliss.

10 Items every girl must have!

According to In Style magazine there are ten items that should be in every girls wardrobe.  I just thought I would share my take on them with you all....

1) Tuxedo Jacket - InStyle recommends white however I think that any color combination would suit just fine.  Tuxedo jackets just stand out and can be dressed up or pair with jeans for a more casual look.

2) Versatile Flats - I think this is a necessity, there are times when pumps just wont cut it (when your going to be doing an extreme amount of walking)

3) Printed Scarf - I am such a scarf girl they just give your ensemble a little puff of life!  No matter how many more scarves I purchase I just can't seem to put down the leopard print one I purchased from H&M a while ago.

4) Trench Coat - This is so perfect for springtime,  I personally think a nice trench looks good on just about anyone (just make sure it's sized right).  I am getting ready to pull mines right out of storage.

5) A Polka Dot Blouse - The use of this is pretty self explanatory you can go from work to happy hour with this style of shirt.  I think you can pair it with so many different things (jeans, skirt, shorts).

6)  Show stopping heels - I know every girl has her freak-em dress but do you have your freak-em heels?  Make your you own a pair of shoes so bold if you paired them with a white t-shirt you will still grab others attention.

7) Pleated Skirt - As I mentioned in an earlier post Pleats are so in this season.  I personally feel that pleats are so feminine and just make me feel super girly.

8) Bold Bracelet/Cuff - Add some flare yo your accessories by getting a nice cuff that you an throw on when you ensemble allows you to.

9) Statement Necklace - Another trend I think speaks for itself.  Try getting one that can be worn at work and out on the town you will get more use out of it that way.

10) Bold Bag - This will come in handy for all of the girls who aren't quite ready for full on color blocking pair this with different color top to create a fun look.

and there you have it 10 items every girl should have....

Color of the year: Tangerine

If I didn't call this I don't know what...I promise I said in January that Tangerine (orange) was going to be my color of the year  however I had no idea it was going to be named the Pantone Color Institute's color of the year "Tangerine Tango" they call it.  Bold and bright this color is sure to make any ensemble pop.

I have already got a jump start on my Tangerine collection via my jeans from H&M ($19.99), Jessica Simpson pumps, and tons of shirts....how will you be incorporating this color into your wardrobe?

Tuesday Chic Spotlight: Heather W.

It's Tuesday so you know what time it is....I soo adore this week's spotlight I love her style and I really love her hair!  Tuesday Chic:

{Heather W.}

On Hair....

1) What is your favorite hairstyle to rock?
It really depends on my mood and the occasion, but my go-to style is a fresh blowout, flat ironed ans parted in the middle.  Looks the best with a fresh trim.  If I'm feeling "curly", my favorite style is a twist out.

2) How long have you been natural and what made you go natural?
I've been natural (no relaxer) since 2002.  My hair is fine, and I noticed that I never really liked it until my relaxer was about a month old; it was so flat! I was in college and it made sense at the time.  Fortunately, I was able to find a local stylist who pressed and trimmed my hair inexpensively.  That helped me avoid doing a big chop.

3) What are three words to describe your hair?
Versatile, colorful, and mine.

4) What is the best part about having textured hair?
The best part about having textured hair is the versatility it offers.  I'm able to rock a variety of natural styles (Thank God for YouTube tutorials!), but still have it straightened when I want.  Textured hair can convey spice and personality as well, so one can really feel themselves based on hairstyle.  That said it's ultimately the hair God gave me, so it's nice to be able to embrace my natural texture as well.

 5) What is the most unexpected thing you've experienced with you hair since going natural?
That it's gone from fine to full and had grown a lot!  Being natural wasn't as trendy in 2002 as it is today, so I couldn't have anticipated it (my hair) being the conversation piece it sometimes is.  I've also influenced several friends and my mom to go natural, which is cool.

On fashion and other things...

6) What would you say your fashion style was?
Depends on the day, but overall glam mixed with trends interspersed into my basics with a bit of vintage from time to time.  I'm Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte mixed in one, skewing more heavily towards Carrie and Samantha.

7) Name three things that are always in your purse?
Lip gloss, a pair of shades, and earrings.

8) Name on beauty product you cannot live without?  Why?
Hmm, that's tough but I'll say I couldn't live without my Bare Minerals foundation.  It evens out my complexion and provides protection from the sun.

9) What are the top three pieces in your wardrobe?
Currently, my top three pieces are my Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 handbag (it's a classic), black ankle length leggings (because I can wear them with almost any top), and my indigo skinny jeans (while trendy, they are fun and flirty and can be dressed up or down).  I purchased my first full-length mink over the summer, but I have only been able to wear it twice; it hasn't been cold enough!

And there you have it! Heather is stylish and inspiring!  She has one thing right this winter was mild.

8 Things to Pack for Spring Break

Yes it's that time of year again..when the temperature starts to rise and days get longer...you all know what that means it's time for a little get away from work or school and get somewhere tropical.  It may be just for a weekend or for a couple of weeks either way I have put together a list of things to you have to bring with you on your trip!

1) Coral Tones - Nothing says take me away like some color.  Since coral is in this season make sure to bring your favorite coral item (I suggest a maxi skirt)

2) Thin jacket or sweater - with the way this weather has been this year you just never know so be sure to bring s jacket or something to keep you warm in case it gets a little chilly.

3) At least two bathing suits you have to diversify ( if you don't really want to spend a lot of money Forever 21 has them starting at $4.50 for each piece)

4) Tote bag- If you are like me and want to spend some time relaxing at a beach this will really come in handy, I usually store my beach towel, books, suntan lotion, and more inside of my tote.

5) A pair of running shoes - I really mean it! These will really come in handy especially if your taking a day to sight see or visit an amusement park.

 6) Tanks/Camis - You can't forget to pack the basics, these will come in handy if you want to cover up your swim suit.

7) Wedge Heels - Wedges are the perfect heel...you get all of the height and spunk of a heel but for the most part you feet tend to last a lot longer before your ready to come out of the shoes.

8) One piece of statement jewelry -  be sure to bring something that is versatile that way you can maximize the use of it.

and there you have it! With these items your well on your way to a relaxed fashionable spring break! Where will you all be traveling to this spring break???

Cute Braid-Out on a Blow Out Video!

So as a YouTube Junkie I have watched quite a few of CharyJay's (160Days2Lose2) channel, she has soo many tutorials and slowly but surely has became one of my favorite channels to watch....I thought this video would be helpful to some of you curlies who may be struggling with what to do with your blown out hair.  Must I mention she is using some of my favorite Shea Moisture products (which you can get from Target) see video below....

It's Back....Buy 1 Get 1 50% OPI Polish.....

For those of you who didn't know I am sort of a Nail Polish junkie....I am really addicted to OPI Polish...

Yesterday I found myself in yet another shopping mood and decided to swing by JcPenney's to see if they had the buy one get one 50% of sale they usually have on OPI polishes and guess what??? They did...well sort of so instead of the sign saying buy one get one half off the sign said buy two or more and the polishes are $6 each (normally $8 each)  so it still comes out to $12 for two bottles....come to think of it this new sale is better since its $6 each for every bottle (so I could buy three and pay $18 instead of $20).  Anyway I just wanted to share that with you all I ended up buying two polishes from Nicki Minaj's collection and I posted the picture of the colors as well as my nails for the day (since I change polish just about everyday)

Colors: Did it On Em (Left) and Fly (right)

Nail of the Day "Save Me"

I am pretty sure I want the Pink Friday color but they were sold out...

On another note...if you have a Walmart Salon near you I believe they are selling OPI polishes buy one get two free (I am sure they are colors from older collections but hey polish is polish)...hope you all find this helpful!

Shows on my Radar...

I know this is completely unrelated to anything but there are two shows that are so on my radar right now.  NBC's Fashion Star (which premiered last night) and VH1's Styled by June (Premiere's March 19th)..

So for those who don't know about June Ambrose (she is one of my FAV people!) the show is pretty much supposed to follow June juggling her clients and her personal life...each week will feature celebrity's EMANCIPATION (a June-ism), culminating in a re-launch that coincides with a high profile event: new album, new tour, new music video, etc.

Here is more of what VH1 has to say about the show...

VH1 goes inside the world of fashion in a unique docu-soap series with the ultimate "Curator of Style"--June Ambrose. She is THE celebrity stylist. From Puffy to Jay-Z, she re-branded hip-hop as upscale in the 1990s. And in the 21st century, she has reshaped and re-launched the careers of hundreds of celebs, including Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, and Will Smith. June pushes the envelope and specializes in the unexpected, making us all stand up and take notice.

The show will air Monday's at 9:30/8:30 Central

Soo I am already in love with this show because I haven't seen anything like it before.  So its a reality contest show for fashion designers and each day after the show airs you can purchase the winner's items in the stores! I am so serious like the show aired yesterday and I saw and Jacket in H&M today.  So this is definetely my newest guilty pleasure....the show airs Tuesday's 10/9 central on NBC

Trend Alert: Denim Everything!

Okay am I the only one who has noticed how Denim in places other than jeans has slowly been making it's comeback?  I know I have made my share of recent purchases (Vests, Shirts, etc).  This trend is a great addition to your spring/summer wardrobes.

Why we love it?  It's so versatile, you can pair denim with just about anything denim never goes out of season.

Tuesday Chic Spotlight: Ebony B.

Yay! It's that time of the week again.  This week's Tuesday Chic is Ebony B. coming to us from Chicago!  She has tons of style and is also a natural chica I couldn't wait to post this....

On Hair...

1) What is your favorite hairstyle to rock?
In my shoulder-length days, I love wearing bangs - when they behave anyway! So I'll wear it up, or down, with bangs.  Lately though, I have been missing my short pixie haircute...and I've been inspired by The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to try my hand at wigs.  We'll see if a change-up is in the future.

2) How long have you been natural and what made you go natural?
I can't believe I've been natural for almost 5 years now! Actually, going natural was something I always wanted to try, but I was forced into it by a tragic hair accident! I hadn't had my hair relaxed in months and decided to get microbraids when I first moved to my current city in an effort to prolong the process of finding a new hair stylist. Tip: Don't ever wash your hair without combing it first, after having your hair braided...! My straight hair tangled severely and I had to chop it all off! It’s not a moment I'm proud of but I am proud to be 5 years chemical-free.

3) What is your Hair Anthem?
Sexy and I Know It - LMFAO

4)  What have you been doing to maintain healthy hair?
I keep it professionally styled because I don't know a thing about hair health maintenance. But I do use natural hair products only, keep color to a minimum (unfortunately), and try not to use too much heat (flat irons).

On Fashion and other things....

5) What are the top three pieces in your wardrobe?
That's tough, because I could give the top three based off my "statement makers" which are pieces I've probably only worn once, or, off my "go-to's" which are pieces I wear all the time in different ways...First I would say my slouchy sweater from Arden B is definitely a go-to. I ALWAYS get compliments. Next, it's what I call my "Vegas Dress", purchased from one of my fav stores: BeBe.  Last, I have so many jackets/blazers that I love.. do I have to choose 1?

6) Name one beauty product you cannot live without?
I imagined it would be something other than this, but I can't justify anything else. My Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask. It's the only product that I use every day, and the only cleanser that I've ever used that consistently cleans my face and reduces breakouts (I can count the # of bumps I've had in the 2 yr period that I've used this cleanser on one hand), doesn't break me out or stop working after long-time use, and does everything that it says it does. The mask is excellent.

7) Favorite Bag and Shoes?
Bag: Kors- Can I just say I L.O.V.E. Kors?, and of course, Louis Vuitton; Shoes: Vince Camuto is my current fav, Carlos Santana

8)  What would you say your fashion style was?
Some of my fav Vince C.
I would say feminine classic by day & feminine flirty by night. I'm slowly incorporating my sense of style into my daytime routine, by trying to incorporate more feminine pieces into my work/professional attire. But really I prefer to embrace my womanhood with what I wear. I'm typically attracted to romantic articles of clothing (pastels, florals, intricate details, flowy fabrics). I like to flirt with my clothing - I love skirts & dresses, shorts & rompers, tunics. I love cigarette jeans and blouses, crop tops. I wear heels more days than not. I also LOVE structure - dresses and tops, skirts, jackets that hold form, such as on the shoulders, and the use of lines to accentuate the body's silhouette.

And that sum's it all up... Tuesday Chic Ebony B!

Shop Alert: Nasty Gal Clothing

Have you ever found so many things on one site you wanted to buy but had to hold back because your wallet said so? Yea that is soo me right now..yes, I have been in a shopping mood all week...maybe because the weather is nice or maybe because I am pretty addicted to shopping.  Either way I stumbled upon yet another online boutique: Nasty Gal now don't get the name confused there is nothing nasty about the clothing...unless you call short shorts and mesh tops nasty (which I don't so I am sharing it).  Anyway I am love with several items and I hope to do a review of the items I purchased soon...until then check out some pictures of their latest items below and check the site out.
