Nails of the Week: Twinkle Lights and Good Man-darin

Okay before I get into the post I want to apologize about my slight absence it the last few weeks I have moved around so much I did not get to posting as I had planned.  I am finally settling back into Florida and in this last week before returning to the workforce I will be dedicating most (if not ALL lol) of my time to the blog so stay tuned for all the new posts to come...

This week's nails were inspired by my little obsession with glitter with a splash of summer....China Glaze's Twinkle Lights and OPI's A Good Man-Darin is Hard to Find.

DIY Project: T-Shirt Necklace

Okay so while on my "vacation" I have really tapped into my creative juices and since it had been a while since my last DIY project I wanted to take a stab at making a T-Shirt necklace.  T-Shirt necklaces have been blowing up the fashion and DIY scene you can really put your personality into.  So see my video/tutorial below (additional pictures are at the end of the video).

Nails of the week: Peri-Wink-le and Golden Rules

{The Polish Breakdown}

This week's nail polish spotlight lands us with China Glaze - "Secret Peri-Wink-Le" and OPI - "Golden Rules!".  My inspiration for this week's color selection was bronze beach bodies on the beaches of sunny FL. Now that I am down here you would think that I would have at least visited one however I just can't seem to break away from some of the things I have been working on.

A pic of how the polish wears....

Trend Alert: Lemon Craze

Okay I am back with yet another color that seems to be making its mark on the fashion scene....Lemon.  While it is bright enough to turn heads its soft enough to let the romance flow.  I must admit I am just now becoming a fan of colors in the yellow family as I have never really thought the hue looked great on my skin.  However, in the past few months I have saw some pieces that just made me want to scream (in a good way of course).  So I just figured I'd share this popping color with you all.

Why we love it:
Yellow is a natural attention grabber and it bounces nicely on all skin tones

How to wear it:
* Lemon on lemon
* Paired with blue, white, purple, or gray
* Assesorize
* Wear natural makeup

Trend Alert: Peplum

Soo here is a trend I am sure we have all came to love...peplum.  This is a trend in my opinion that can easily dress up and look.  Peplum style clothes in soft pastel colors seem so perfect for this time of year.  So get your wardrobe in order and add some of these pieces to your wardrobe!

How to wear it:

* If you are not completly comfortable with wearing peplum try starting off by wearing black on black. Mostly because its flattering on all shapes and sizes.

*Wear a nice heel to complete your look.

*If wearing a peplum style shirt try pairing it an a-line skirt or a pair of skinny pants.

*Wear a clean sleek hair style with the peplum style clothes.

Blogger on the move...

Sorry....
Okay I know things have been kind of slow on here lately but I have a great reason for that...over the last few weeks I have been preparing to move (and now I have) to Florida.  So things had been very hectic with stuff packed up in boxes but now I am back will be in full effect so expect to see new product reviews, tutorials, look of the day, and more.  I probably should have put you all on notice of my absence but me trying to be a multi-tasker I thought I could accomplish moving, blogging, wedding planning and more.

So consider this my apology and my promise of more to come....

On Hair...

What is your favorite hairstyle to rock?
I absolutely love wearing twist outs because they are simple to do and you can play with your curls by pinning one side up or letting it be free and wild.

What is your "hair anthem"?
My hair anthem is Christian Dior Denim Flow by Kanye West that song pretty much sums up how I feel about my hair.

What have you been doing to maintain healthy hair?
To maintain my curls I usually wash with a moisturizing shampoo once a week along with a conditioner and leave-in conditioner as well as a co-wash between shampoo's.  I use a variation of herbal oils with my Shea butter leave in conditioner.  I don't use any heat on my hair and I wear a satin bonnet at night to prevent breakage.

What are three words you use to describe your hair?
Unexpected, Cocky, and Rebellious

How long have you been natural and what made you go natural?
I started my natural hair journey in April 2011.  I transitioned until January 2012 and then I decided to cut my relaxed hair off.  Deciding to go natural was kind of a rebirth of my spirit.  Last year was a very significant year in my life, it was a turning point of creating who I actually wanted and was called to be.  The best part about being natural is that it just feels right.

What is the most unexpected thing you have experienced since going natural?
I didn't expect my hair to be so thick and curly.  Many people come up to me and ask me how do I get my hair to be curly and I almost feel embarrassed when I tell them I just wash it and let it air dry.

On Fashion and Other Things...

What would you say your fashion style was?
Classic, controlled chaos.  My style is a hint of classic styles from every era mixed together.

What are the top three pieces in your wardrobe?
I would say black patent leather Steve Madden wedges, Dark as Night black shades, and my striped multicolored dress.

What are three things that are always in your purse?
Juicy Couture perfume, Desire lipglass by M.A.C, and YES to Cucumbers facial wipes.

What is your favorite fashion trend of 2012?
I love the rounded nail trend that is going on now.  I have yet to try that style but I do like it.

What is your favorite bag and shoes?
My favorite bag is my small d&b clutch and my favorite shoe is my multicolored Steve Madden wedge.

And there you have it!  This week's Tuesday Chic feature Kimberly F.
